What Customers Say About USB Power Adapter Y Cable:

This adapter cord worked perfectly. I purchased this product in order to use my external hard drive to back up everything on my computer. The hard drive would not work without additional power. I was easily able to back everything up on my computer without losing power. The cord was exactly what I needed and worked great.

I was infuriated. The cord works fine. But the seller was nice enough to provide me a refund when I let them know of the discrepany. My problem is the fact that the seller whom I purchased the item fom did not send the item as shown in the picture. I was sent the same type of cord but it did not have the 2 long usb ends, just two short ends which where connected to each other with a 1 inch cord. Buy from the seller as listed. Looking for a deal from a different seller will get you another item.

I bought this to hopefully bring life to my 120GB WD Passport, thinking inadequate power was the problem. This did nothing for my Passport, wish I could say more.

I took my external HD (WD 500 gb big thick book) onboard a cruise ship trip and it was able to shut down two laptops in an instant. Even though it is a little pricey for this short cable, it saves you the headache trying all the dozen other ways that people came up with the solution. I think WD does now supply their smaller external HD boxes with these kind of cables, or at least, I've seen it before. It feels a little mind-bending that such a short cable can give that extra energy boost to the original supplied cable. My external HD could pop up fine for a few seconds but go back to being considered "malfunction" and not showing up on "My Computer" even if the light is all green (but constant blinking). Never had this kind of problem before.

So, when I got back home and inserted the HD into my desktop computer, the external HD came up as "malfunctioned" by my Vaio. Frustrated, I tried several ways to bring my external HD back up, but majority wise, they will not work. If you had problems, like me, of your computer suddenly thinking your external HD is malfunctioned and cannot be found, well, this cable solves everything. So, if you're tired of looking through the net for help or ready to combust thinking you lost a lot of files, well, rest assure. Getting this kind of USB cable came up several times in people's solutions, so I thought, why not.Ordered it through Amazon. It was either this cable or try the "delete the infocache1 file from your computer" option, which I had doubts on so I went with, what I considered, a safer alternative. This cable is all you really need.

External HD makers should address this problem one day. Which was strange because my external HD has been working fine for over an year. I could be wrong. In-between trying to revive the external HD, I surfed the net for solutions and was shocked by how common this problem is. External HDs work great except, they do take up a lot of energy as I came to realize. I believe this cable is suitable for majority of the external HDs out there regardless of the brand name and your computer. ^_^

This Y cable solved the problem, and so far has been 100% reliable. My company needed to use external usb hard drives to get data off of our compact PCI processors, but the usb ports on the processors didn't provide enough power. We even tried 3rd party powered usb hubs, but that didn't help. We tried one other brand, too, which only worked part of the time. With these Y cables, our hard drives get recognized in windows every time.
